Groom’s family hires men to splash red paint on bride’s dress as she walks to the altar

In a cruel prank by the groom’s mother, a bride’s wedding dress was splattered with red paint as she walked down the aisle.

A Mexican bride’s wedding gone wrong has gone viral on platforms like Reddit, Instagram and X, formerly known as Twitter. In a post on the Reddit subreddit “Wedding Shaming,” one poster wrote about a person named Alexandra from her mother’s hometown who was relentlessly bullied by her now-husband’s family.

The groom reportedly came from a wealthy family in Ciudad Obregón, in the Mexican state of Sonora. When his family learned that he was engaged to a woman from a different background, they tried everything in their power to sabotage the young couple’s relationship.

The Reddit poster noted that Alexandra is “a lovely person and would never hurt anyone” and did not deserve the alleged bullying campaign the groom’s parents launched against her. They wrote that despite the parents’ accusations that she was “greedy for money,” she tried to hold her head up and lead with kindness.

However, when the young couple announced their engagement, the situation escalated. According to a now viral Spanish-language X Thread, The groom’s mother, Maupe, faked a heart attack when she heard the news. At the time, Maupe reportedly blamed the couple for her heart problems and told her son the least he could do was “cover all her medical expenses.”

The groom’s family allegedly continued to behave in an uncompromising and horrible manner towards the young couple, refusing to attend the wedding. Although they were not present at the ceremony on February 18, they certainly made a scene and tried to ruin the couple’s big day.

According to the Twitter thread, Alexandra had been climbing the steps of the church with her father when her glittery wedding dress was splattered with red paint. The crowd reportedly screamed in horror as she quickly turned around to see what had happened, unsure of what had splattered her at the time. The train of her dress and the steps behind her were stained red.

The family “hired someone to throw red paint on the bride’s dress just before she walked down the aisle,” the Reddit poster claimed. They added that three men were responsible for destroying the wedding dress; two of them were tasked with throwing two cans of paint at her, and the third filmed the incident on his phone.

“At first, guests thought the red color might be blood,” the poster continues. “(The) bride said she initially felt it was water, but then she saw everyone’s shocked faces and her friends tried to reassure her that she still looked beautiful.”

They added: “The worst thing, according to her, was seeing her mother’s face because she initially thought she had been physically injured.”

The bride, shaken and distraught by the paint attack, decided to go home to put on a gold dress and walk down the aisle. When the couple was finally able to say their vows, they continued celebrating as planned, but the groom’s family was not done with their alleged attempts at sabotage.

The Reddit poster wrote that the family “sent an anonymous tip to the police that they might find drugs” at the location where the couple planned to take their photos. The police came and searched the premises and even threatened to handcuff the groom. However, no one was arrested and the police left, allowing the couple to continue their celebration.

Unfortunately, the harassment didn’t end there. The groom’s family reportedly hid not only his passport but also his visa before the honeymoon and tried to “bribe the travel agent to ruin the trip.” According to the Reddit poster, the honeymoon went smoothly despite the groom’s family’s pushy actions.

The local community of Ciudad Obregón has ostracized the groom’s family after everything that happened. Their house was reportedly pelted with eggs as a result. They were “questioned by their friends and denied everything, but they don’t deny that they enjoyed hearing about it.”
