Jana Duggar marries Stephen Wissmann in a big wedding in Arkansas

TLC star Jana Duggar from “Counting On” and “19 Kids and Counting” has married!

Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar’s eldest daughter, 34, married Stephen Wissmann, 31, in Prairie Grove, Arkansas, on Thursday, according to People’s exclusive report on the 500-guest wedding.

USA TODAY has reached out to the Duggar family for comment.

The ceremony took place two months after their engagement. Jana’s bridal party included her sisters Jessa Duggar Seewald, who was her maid of honor; Joy-Anna Forsyth; Johannah Duggar; Jinger Duggar Vuolo and Jordyn Duggar, and sister-in-law Abbie Duggar. Dad Jim Bob Duggar walked her down the aisle.

Jana Duggar called the wedding “a dream come true” in an interview with People before the ceremony.

“Coming from two larger families, we love getting together and celebrating moments like this,” she said. “And having them all here just means a lot to us.”

The ceremony took place about half an hour away from where she grew up with her siblings in Tontitown.

Who is Stephen Wissman?

According to People, Wissman is one of 13 siblings and lives with his large family in Nebraska. He installs irrigation systems for a living and also works as a sandblaster and painter.

Duggar will leave Arkansas to join Wissman in Nebraska, where “he owns a little house that we bought and we renovated,” she said.

How Jana Duggar and Stephen Wissmann met

Wissmann and Duggar met through their families more than a decade ago.

“I remember them coming to our house about 13 years ago and ending up getting snowed in, which almost never happens in Arkansas,” Duggar told People.

“I remember playing games and doing puzzles together late into the night until the snow melted and they could head home. I don’t remember Stephen very well because I’m older than him and he wasn’t on my radar at all.”

They reconnected and tried dating years ago but ultimately broke up. They stayed in touch, and her brother Jeremiah Duggar married Wissman’s sister Hannah in 2022. They rekindled their romance earlier this year, noting, “We still enjoy each other. We still value each other very much,” Duggar said.

Josh Duggar found guilty of child pornography

Josh Duggar from “19 Kids and Counting” was found guilty of downloading and possessing child pornography.

USA TODAY, Wednesday

“Counting On” ran for eleven seasons between 2015 and 2020. TLC canceled the series in 2021 after Josh Duggar was charged with child pornography. The eldest child of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar was convicted and sentenced to 12 years in prison.

The series was a spin-off of “19 Kids and Counting,” which aired from 2008 to 2015. However, TLC canceled the show after it was revealed that Josh Duggar had sexually abused five young girls, including his sisters, as a teenager.

“Derogatory and sensationalist”: Duggar parents criticize “Shiny Happy People” documentary

Last year, the four-part mini-documentary series “Shiny Happy People: Duggar Family Secrets” was released, which made allegations against the once-popular reality TV stars known for their extended family and conservative values, including one made by Jill Duggar Dillard, the fourth Duggar child. The series alleged that as a young couple, the Duggar parents joined a cult led by an accused sex offender.

Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar protested against the portrayal of their family in the Amazon Prime series, saying it “portrays so much and so many in a derogatory and sensationalist way, which unfortunately is the direction of entertainment these days.”
