Detectives search for pickup truck after fatal concrete fire

Detectives are searching for a pickup truck after a fatal house fire last week in Concrete.

On August 9, Skagit County officials responded to a report of a fire in a building near the 15000 mile marker of State Route 530.

When authorities arrived, they found a two-story home destroyed by fire.

During an investigation, investigators determined the address was that of a non-police contract employee of Skagit County. Because of this connection, Mount Vernon Police took over the investigation. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, Washington State Patrol and the Skagit County Fire Marshall will also assist the agency in the investigation.

According to Mount Vernon police, several people died in the fire. The Skagit County Coroner’s Office will handle identifying the victims and notifying next of kin.

According to investigators, a vehicle was missing from the fire scene and detectives are searching for it. It is a blue 1994 Chevrolet pickup truck with Washington state license plate C67636L.

Anyone with information or who witnessed the fire is asked to call 911 24 hours a day, 360-428-3211, or Mount Vernon Police at 360-336-6271 during business hours.
