Deliveries of the Indian-made Range Rover Sport begin, it becomes more affordable

While deliveries of the Range Rover LWB began only a few weeks ago, the India-made Range Rover Sport is now reaching customers at a much lower price.

JLR India (Jaguar Land Rover) has announced the commencement of deliveries of the locally assembled Range Rover Sport in the country. The British luxury carmaker began local production of its flagship SUVs in India earlier this year, thereby reducing prices of both the Range Rover LWB and the Range Rover Sport. While deliveries of the Range Rover LWB began a few weeks ago, the made-in-India Range Rover Sport is now reaching customers.

Range Rover Sport India Prices

The locally manufactured Range Rover Sport is offered with two engine variants – the 3.0-litre petrol Dynamic SE with 394 hp and 550 Nm and the 3.0-litre diesel Dynamic SE with 346 hp and 700 Nm of maximum torque. Prices for the locally manufactured Range Rover Sport start at 1.40 crore (ex-showroom). That is a whopping 29 Lakh cheaper than the fully imported model. Meanwhile, the Range Rover HSE LWB has become more affordable thanks to 44 lakh with local assembly.

Commenting on the deliveries, Rajan Amba, Managing Director, JLR India, said, “The delivery of the locally manufactured Range Rover Sport is a significant milestone. This means that the entire Range Rover portfolio is now manufactured in India and the local manufacturing presence expands to six vehicles in the portfolio. This is a testament to our commitment to the Indian market and our continued endeavour to offer world-class luxury vehicles to the most discerning customers.”

Features of the Range Rover Sport

The Range Rover Sport is based on the standard wheelbase version and is aimed at owners who like to take the wheel themselves occasionally. The luxury SUV is based on the MLA Flex architecture and comes with a wide range of features such as air suspension, adaptive off-road cruise control, all-wheel drive and much more.

Much like the exterior, the cabin is minimalistic, with the 13.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system dominating the dashboard. The unit runs the latest generation Pivi Pro operating system, bringing a host of features to the curved screen, including navigation, media, climate control and more. The Range Rover Sport also features cabin air purification, digital LED headlights with adaptive front lighting, new low-speed maneuvering lights and more.

Both the Range Rover LWB and Range Rover Sport, along with the Range Rover Evoque and RR Velar in the automaker’s fleet, are assembled at the brand’s plant in Pune, Maharashtra. JLR also assembles the Discovery Sport and Jaguar F-Pace in India. The company is gearing up to launch the Range Rover Electric next, which will make its global debut later this year, while the Indian launch is likely to happen in 2025.
