The Sheridan Bronc football team is getting ready for the 2024 season.

The team started training yesterday and this week the players have two training sessions a day from now until Friday plus one on Saturday morning.

Sheridan has lost many big names and some personalities due to graduation.

Head coach Jeff Mowry says there are some experienced players who can fill some of those gaps and others who need to learn quickly.

This starter from last year’s championship game is lineman Bridger Peldo.

He says the one thing he’s noticed offseason among those who want to play this season is great enthusiasm.

On Thursday, the players can put on the pads for the first time.

Buffalo Football Camp with Chris Prosinski: Youngsters who are still learning the game can learn from a former professional.

Today marks the one-day football camp hosted by the Boys and Girls Club of the Bighorns and Buffalo High School graduate, former University of Wyoming football cowboy, and former NFL player Chris Prosinski.

The camp takes place at Clear Creek Middle School in Buffalo.

Prosinski explains some of the things the youth will learn at camp.

The camp takes place from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. for students in grades 1 to 5 and from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. for students in grades 6 to 8.

Sheridan County High School Golf: Training started yesterday and the competition can begin tomorrow.

Sheridan is scheduled to compete in a two-day competition in Powell tomorrow and Thursday.

The first competition of Big Horn and Tongue River is not scheduled until Friday next week.

Sheridan High School Tennis: High school tennis training also began yesterday.

Last year the Sheridan boys took third place and the girls took fifth place at the state championships.

The players will compete at a jamboree in Casper this Saturday.

The Broncs and Lady Broncs will host their first home game next Monday against Cheyenne East and Cheyenne Central.

Colorado Rockies Baseball: The Colorado Rockies lost the opening game of their 3-game series in Arizona last night 4:5.

Brendan Rodgers hit a solo home run to help the team, but the Rocks’ bullpen allowed two runs on wild pitches in the 7th inning to make the difference.

Today’s game is scheduled to start at 19:40.
