Houston, Cabool and Texas County report sales tax revenue

Houston and Cabool saw sales tax revenues jump in July, while Texas County saw a decline.

HOUSTON

A one-cent sales tax for parks, police and fire departments brought in $82,139.25 in July, up $11,079.37 from the same period a year ago.

The one cent general sales tax totaled $82,869.15, an increase of $11,095.62 from the same period last year.

Two quarter-cent sales taxes – one for transportation and one for utility work – each totaled $20,535 in July, up $2,769 from the same period last year.

Excise taxes on out-of-state Internet orders totaled $17,013.64 for the month, down $10,792.44 from the same period last year.

CABOOL

The one cent general sales tax totaled $37,775.57, an increase of $5,541.59 from the same period last year.

The half-cent sales tax for transportation purposes totaled $18,887.71 in July, up $2,770.73 from the same period last year.

Excise taxes on out-of-state Internet orders totaled $12,736.24 for the month, down $3,812.31 from the same period last year.

A half-cent sales tax earmarked for law enforcement totaled $18,489.97 for the month.

TEXAS COUNTY

In Texas County, merchants collect three half-cent sales taxes, which totaled $118,611 in July, an increase of $9,467 each from the same period last year.

Sales tax on out-of-state sales totaled $120,516.91 for the month, $74,759.83 less than the same month in 2023.

Revenues from a three-eighths sales tax earmarked for law enforcement totaled $82,589.86, an increase of $2,566.65 for the month.
