BREAKING: Texas sophomore receiver Johntay Cook is no longer with the program

Inside Texas learned Texas Sophomore Receiver Johntay Cook is no longer in the program. On the season, Cook has 8 receptions for 137 yards (17.1 yards per catch) and two touchdowns.

An important point to note, however, is that Cook hasn’t recorded a reception since the Mississippi State game on September 28th.

In recent weeks we have seen a solid rotation of Isaiah Bond (if not injured), DeAndre MooreAnd Matthew Golden. In addition, star newcomer Ryan Wingo and senior Silas Bolden have seen their reps increase.

The IT department doesn’t feel it’s necessary to reveal the “locker room” aspects of this breakup, but things had been coming to a head for some time.

Cook is a promising talent who signed with much fanfare for the 2023 class. The five-star from DeSoto dedicated the summer to his senior year after a long stint playing at Texas. Together with Arch ManningHe was a leading voice in the No. 3 recruiting class in the country.
