ForbesToday’s NYT “Connections” tips and answers for Wednesday, November 6th

Hello! I hope that you are taking care of yourself and your loved ones during what has been quite an eventful week in the world so far. At least there is a new game Connections so we can concentrate on it for a few minutes. For what it’s worth, I have a fun song recommendation at the end that you too can enjoy.

Today NYT Connections Hints and answers for Thursday, November 7th will follow soon.

How to play connections

Connections is a free, popular one New York Times daily pun. You will receive a new puzzle every day at midnight. You can play on that NYT Website or gaming app.

You will be presented with a grid of 16 words. Your task is to divide them into four groups of four by figuring out the connections between them. The groups can be, for example, elements that you can click on, names of research participants, or words preceded by a body part.

Each puzzle has only one solution, and you have to be careful when it comes to words that could fit into more than one category. You can mix up the words to perhaps better see the connections between them.

Each group is color coded. The yellow group is usually the easiest to understand, blue and green are in the middle, and the purple group is usually the most difficult. The purple group often contains puns.

Select four words that you think go together and click Send. If you guess and are wrong, you lose a life. When you’re close to finding the right group, you may see a message saying you’re one word away from the right group, but you still need to figure out which word to swap.

If you make four mistakes, the game is over. Let’s make sure that this doesn’t happen with the help of some tips, and if you really find it difficult, even with today’s ones Connections Answer. Like with Wordle and other similar games, it’s easy to share results with your friends on social media and group chats.

If you have one NYT You can access this with an All Access or Games subscription Connections Archive. This includes every previous game from Connectionsso you can go back and play any songs you missed.

Aside from the first 60 or so games, you should be able to find my clues for each grid via Google if you need to! Simply click here and enter the date of the game for which you need hints or answers to the search query.

What are today’s connection solutions?

Spoiler alert! Don’t scroll any further down the page until you’re ready to find out today Connections Answer.

This is your final warning!

Today Connections Answers are…

  • Yellow Group – Food Related Jumble (HASH, SALAD, SCRUB EGGS, STEW)
  • Green Group – public image (CHARACTER, IMAGE, NAME, REPUTATION)
  • Blue group – information on a museum poster (ARTIST, MEDIUM, TITLE, YEAR)
  • Purple group – anagrams of famous painters (DIAL, EGADS, MONTE, YOGA)

It wasn’t a perfect game today, but my overall win streak is 11. Here’s how I did:

I started with a guess of SCRAMBLED, SALAD, MEDIUM and HASH on how to cook eggs. This kept me away from a group.

I shifted my attention elsewhere and tried something different with ARTIST, NAME, IMAGE, and TITLE (I guess what you’d see on a Spotify profile?), but it wasn’t even close. Looking back, the NAME didn’t quite fit anyway. However, swapping MEDIUM and YEAR meant I got the blues.

The greens then became clear. Since there were only four sensible words left about cooking, I pushed those aside to get the purple words. Then I finished the yellow tones thing.

I suspected there was some kind of word play going on with EGADS and YOGA in particular, as they didn’t really fit with anything else. The purples, as far as I can tell, refer to Salvador Dali, Edgar Degas, Claude Monet and Francisco de Goya. I don’t know Degas and only vaguely remember de Goya’s work, so I doubt I would have ever figured this group out.

That’s all for today Connections Hints and answers. Be sure to check out my blog for tips and the walkthrough for Friday’s game if you need them.

PS: I don’t have a particularly strong personal connection to today’s song recommendation. Thanks to the shuffle feature on my mega playlist this week, it just popped up and I can’t get it out of my head. At the time I had no idea it was such a big hit as it reached the top 5 in Canada and the UK and the top 20 in the US

At the moment I just feel like I have to dance out all the tension that’s in the air. This song is perfect for that. And hey, I hope you enjoy it too, maybe even while doing your best Tarzan impression:
