Drivers face challenges in snowy Colorado weather in early November

Several sections of Interstate 70 were closed Wednesday morning after a winter storm brought snow to parts of Colorado. There were intermittent closures west of Denver in Lakewood, the mountains and the Eastern Plains.

I-70 eastbound was closed between E470 three miles west of Watkins and US 24 three miles west of Limon from mile marker 292 to mile marker 358. Motorists are strongly advised to take an alternative route.

Both directions of I-70 were closed between US 40 three miles west of Limon and Exit 438, Rose Avenue in Burlington, from mile marker 368 to mile marker 437.

The road is closed for safety reasons. Motorists are asked to take an alternative route.

On Wednesday morning, there was a traffic delay due to conditions on I-70 westbound in Golden between Exit 260 at C470 and Exit 259 Morrison Road a mile west of Golden, but it was reopened to traffic at 11 a.m

An earlier closure due to an accident in Lakewood caused some traffic delays west of Denver.

There were also some highway closures along the Front Range as snow continued to fall.

Motorists were urged to check COtrip.org before hitting the roads.
