Polls in Nebraska are now open until 7 p.m

Polls are now open across the state of Nebraska in what many are calling one of the most consequential elections in recent history.

In addition to voting for presidential, Senate and congressional seats, with some of the elections being closely contested, voters will also determine the makeup of the local school boards and councils that govern our communities.

Voters will decide whether there will be changes to state law and the Constitution on issues of abortion, medical marijuana and school choice funding.

Local ballot items include the sales and use tax reauthorization for the city of Scottsbluff and the township’s LB840 economic program, while Bayard voters will decide on a $4 million bond issue that could fund a new swimming pool.

Scotts Bluff County Election Commissioner Kelly Sides told KNEB News that at the end of early voting yesterday, 5,412 voters had already cast their ballots.

Voters in Minatare I and II Wards will have access to a new polling location this election at the Minatare Fire Hall at 612 Main Street. All voters must have a valid ID before voting today. People without valid ID are allowed to vote provisionally and then have until November 12 to bring their ID to the county election office for verification.
