“Micah Parsons Shocker Gives Cowboys Jumpstart to Rebuild in Proposed Trade”

It’s been a nightmarish season for the Dallas Cowboys so far in 2024. They are 3-4 and have lost two games in a row. Ahead of them lies a gauntlet of difficult games.

Dallas has the Atlanta Falcons, Philadelphia Eagles, Houston Texans and Washington Commanders on its upcoming list. Things can go south pretty quickly if the Cowboys don’t take things a step further. But as it stands in 2024, Dallas won’t be a serious Super Bowl contender.

After this campaign, there is a strong possibility that Mike McCarthy will not receive a contract extension and the Cowboys will be looking for a new head coach.

The Cowboys have many holes on their roster and could look at Micah Parsons as a key player who can jump-start their rebuild.

Parsons is up for an extension and wants to become the highest-paid defensive lineman in the NFL. Nick Bosa of the San Francisco 49ers has that honor at $34 million per year. The Penn State product wants to destroy that, but if Dallas spends that money, it will hurt the rest of their team-building abilities.

Dak Prescott is now the highest-paid QB in the league at $60 million per year after signing a four-year, $240 million extension in September. They also gave CeeDee Lamb a four-year, $136 million contract ($34 million per year).

That’s a lot of money, and trading Parsons will net them tremendous value. A potential trade destination would be the Chicago Bears. There were rumors that Chicago was interested in Myles Garrett and Maxx Crosby, but both guys were unavailable.

Last year, Chicago traded Montez Sweat for a second-round pick at the trade deadline, showing a willingness to give up draft assets to improve the team.

Parsons is someone Chicago would certainly be interested in and has the capital to complete the deal.

In this proposed trade, the Cowboys acquired a 2025 first-round pick and two second-round picks for Parsons.

One of those second-round picks belongs to the Carolina Panthers. They are one of the worst teams in the league and this pick would likely go early in the second round (picks 33-37).

If the Cowboys received three high draft picks in return for Parsons, they could acquire young talent on favorable terms in several key areas. They have needs at wide receiver, running back and safety, just to name a few.

Securing these draft assets would give Dallas the keys to jump-start a rebuild. Additionally, the Bears have $73 million in cap space available in 2025 and would have the funds to give Parsons his monster extension.

This is a deal that would benefit both sides and help restart the Cowboys’ rebuild in 2025.
