How last-minute voters in Colorado can cast their ballot before Election Day

DENVER – Are you a hesitant voter? If so, fear not. You still have time to cast your vote so it will be counted in the 2024 election.

Matt Crane, director of the Colorado County Clerk’s Association, told Denver7 that voters in Colorado can register to vote until Election Day.

“If you’re someone who hasn’t voted yet, you still have a lot of time,” Crane said. “All you need to do is bring acceptable identification.”

There are 19 accepted forms of identification in Colorado, including a valid Colorado driver’s license or state-issued ID card. You can register to vote online at www.GoVoteColorado.gov. You will also find a list of accepted IDs there.

You can also register in person at a Colorado DMV office, an Armed Forces recruiting office, or a federal, state, or local government office.

If you would like to vote with a postal ballot, you must deliver it in person as the deadline for mailing has passed.

“Don’t send it in the mail just yet. “It won’t get back to us in time,” Crane said. “You can take it to any mailbox in the state and it will come back to your county.”

You can also read Denver7’s in-depth voter guide, which breaks down everything you need to know for the November 2024 election, including key dates:

  • Friday, October 11th: First-day mail-in ballots will be sent to registered voters in Colorado
  • Monday, October 21st: County drop boxes must be open on the first day to accept mail-in ballots. The mailboxes will remain open until 7:00 p.m. on election day.
  • Monday, October 28th: The last day you must register to vote in order to receive a ballot in the mail. Anyone who has not registered to vote by this date must vote in person.
  • Tuesday, November 5th – Election Day: Not registered to vote yet? You can still register to vote in person at the nearest polling place in your county if you are in line before 7 p.m
  • Wednesday, November 13th: Last day to correct any problems with your ballot before it can be counted (such as if you forgot to sign it or if election officials need to confirm your signature).

The Colorado Secretary of State’s website has a ballot casting search tool, which you can access here. Denver voters can find their nearest voting location (as well as the nearest vote center and mobile vote centers) by clicking here.
