New York voters respond perfectly to Biden’s attack on MAGA supporters: ‘People cheered’

A British woman who says she became a US citizen to vote for Donald Trump was cheered when she carried a trash bag to the polls last week to protest President Biden calling MAGA supporters “trash.”

MAGA Manhattanite Sophie Sassoon, a former fashion industry employee, wore a black trash bag held up by a bright red Hermes belt, with a matching red Chanel bag and red Louboutin shoes.

“I wanted to be a fancy trash bag — almost as an experiment to show that that’s what trash looks like,” Sassoon told The Post. “People were cheering, giving me the thumbs up and honking.”

Sassoon, who posed alongside appreciative plumbing and construction workers during her hour-long fashion stunt on the Upper East Side, said she had few detractors.

“He’s one of the best presidents we’ve ever had,” Sassoon praised Trump, adding that she supports the former president’s strong positions on the border, Iran and inflation.

The British native said she emigrated to New York 19 years ago and lived happily in the U.S. on a green card until she became so inspired by Trump’s rhetoric before the 2016 election that she officially became a citizen in order to vote for him can.

“I didn’t have to be a citizen, but I decided I had to exercise my right to vote. There was an urgency at the time to do this to vote for Trump,” Sassoon said.

The woman explained that she carefully styled her “trashy” conservative fashion last week to make a statement after Biden said in a campaign call with the group Voto Latino: “The only trash I see floating out there is.” his (Trump’s) supporters.”

Biden tried to be clever by referencing comedian Tony Hinchcliffe, who made a Puerto Rico “floating trash island” joke during a Trump rally at Madison Square Garden, but the president failed miserably.

“One of the women checking me in said, ‘Oh, that trash comment was days ago,'” Sassoon said of a poll worker at her polling place, Eleanor Roosevelt High School, adding that she was able to fire off her own rejoinder: “Guess what? It still stinks.”

The poll worker “couldn’t help it – she was making fun of me,” Sassoon said, adding that the woman in her “50s or 60s” was “trivializing” Biden’s hurtful remark.

A lawyer helping the RNC monitor election integrity told The Post that the poll worker’s comment sounded “very inappropriate.”

“This employee was clearly expressing her personal opinion about a voter at the polling station,” the attorney said.

Sassoon said alongside the poll worker’s comment: “I have experienced much more love than hate.

“Passers-by thanked me for my courage,” she said.

“Only one woman screamed, ‘You better not have to have an abortion.’ ”

Sassoon said she shot back: “This is in the hands of the state, not the president.”
