Jon Bon Jovi and Tim Walz headlining the election rally in Detroit

Rock music legend Jon Bon Jovi will perform at a campaign rally in Detroit on Monday evening in support of Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris and her running mate, Tim Walz.

Walz, the governor of Minnesota, will attend the event and give a speech encouraging Michiganders to vote in Tuesday’s presidential election.

The election night event will also feature performances by the Detroit Youth Choir and Grammy-nominated country duo The War and The Treaty, who rose to stardom in Albion in rural southern Michigan. The location and start time of the rolling rally have not yet been announced.

As Harris tries to motivate and excite voters in the final days before Election Day, her campaign has announced rallies in several swing states with performances from some of the biggest names in music.

According to Variety, Lady Gaga is expected to join Vice President Harris at a rally in Philadelphia on Monday, as are the Roots, Ricky Martin, Fat Joe and others. Katy Perry will headline a rally in Pittsburgh, the Pittsburgh Post Gazette reported.

Bon Jovi, who was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2018, has supported a number of Democratic candidates in his home state of New Jersey and across the country over the past two decades.

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump will hold his final campaign rally before Election Day on Monday evening in Grand Rapids, as he did in 2016 and 2020. His running mate, Ohio Senator JD Vance, will campaign in Flint earlier in the day.

Michigan – with its 15 winner-take-all electoral votes – is widely seen as a key electoral battleground, and public polls show no clear favorite to win the state.

Election Day voting in Michigan begins at 7 a.m. Tuesday.
