Chloë Grace Moretz opens up about her sexuality during the Kamala Harris ad

Actress Chloë Grace Moretz came out as a gay woman in an Instagram post on Friday, endorsing and declaring her support for Kamala Harris.

“I voted early and voted for Kamala Harris,” she wrote, placing an “I Voted Early 2024” sticker on her pants alongside a photo.

“There is so much at stake in this election. “I believe that the government has no right over my body as a woman and that decisions about my body should ONLY be mine and my doctor’s,” the caption continued. “Kamala Harris will protect this for us.”

The actress is best known for her roles in Kick ass, CarrieAnd The equalizerShe also advocated for legal protections for the LGBTQ community “as a gay woman” before encouraging her 24 million followers to get out and vote.

Moretz has long been politically active and attended the Democratic National Convention in 2016 with then-boyfriend Brooklyn Beckham to campaign for Hillary Clinton. And she appeared on the Harris-Walz campaign at an event in Georgia in early October.

The star’s advocacy for LGBTQ rights is at the heart of her political activism, as she grew up with two gay brothers.

“I grew up fighting for them because it broke my heart to see that even though they could stand up for themselves, people wouldn’t listen,” she said in a 2018 interview with Gay Times, the same year she played a role as a gay teenager sent to a conversion therapy camp in the film The Malformation of Cameron Post.

However, after appearing in an article about straight actors playing gay characters, Moretz told a reporter from The Independent: “Don’t assume anyone’s sexuality.”

While the actress had not spoken publicly about her sexuality as of Friday, she had been in a relationship with model Kate Harrison since 2018. In April People reported that the couple wore rings on their left ring finger, leading to engagement speculation.
