Goalkeeper Filip Stankovic was one of Venezia’s best performers in his side’s first half against Inter at the San Siro as he frustrated his parent club with some fine saves and an overall confident performance.

The 22-year-old, the son of Nerazzurri legend Dejan Stankovic, joined the San Siro team in 2014 and spent his entire teenage years coming through Inter’s youth teams, although he never appeared for them in a competitive match.

Stankovic moved to Venezia last summer and gradually became a regular for Eusebio Di Francesco’s side, taking Jesse Joronen’s place.

Filip Stankovic was born in Rome in 2002, the city where his father Dejan Stankovic played at the time, before moving from Lazio to Inter in 2004 and becoming a Nerazzurri legend in 2010 as a member of the treble-winning team.

Dejan’s son started playing for Inter’s youth teams in 2014 and moved to the first team in 2020–2021, where he was called up for a few competitive games by then coach Antonio Conte without ever making his debut.

The Nerazzurri began loaning out Filip Stankovic in 2021 as he moved to Dutch club Volendam on a temporary basis, where he would stay for two seasons.

He was then loaned out to Sampdoria, where he played 38 Serie A games for the Blucerchiati before being signed by Venezia in the summer of 2024, again in a loan deal that also included a purchase obligation.

Filip Stankovic showed his mettle in Venezia’s clash with Inter at the San Siro as he made three saves in the first 45 minutes to prevent the hosts from taking the lead, most notably by miraculously denying Henrik Mkhitaryan from close range .
