PHOENIX – I am grateful that Chuck Coughlin of HighGround Inc. has agreed to join me for the final edition of the AZ Political Podcast before Election Day 2024. And I’m especially grateful that he stayed on set, even after I pointed out how long he’s been working in Arizona politics.

Yes, because he’s been around a long time, but I also know that Chuck has an almost unmatched knowledge of Arizona politics because I had the privilege of working with him on a few campaigns during my time in politics. So trust me when I say he’s seen it all…

…or had.

Because as Chuck and I live through an election season full of the most surprises we’ve ever experienced, we’ve come to the conclusion that the most surprising thing about it is this: It’s been so full of surprises that nothing surprises us anymore.

We also talk about what might happen to the makeup – and messaging – of both the Republican and Democratic parties after the election if Donald Trump or Kamala Harris wins.

It’s a great end to our 2024 election coverage. But what I’m most proud of is that I can actually get Chuck to make some predictions – something that I think only happened because I promised not to use it against him after the election.

I think he believed me. And given how many politicians he’s worked with over the years, I bet Chuck can smell a lie from a million miles away.
