Howell heads into the state playoffs ranked No. 1 in Division 1 by the Detroit Free Press after suffering a huge 30-29 loss to Belleville last Friday. The Highlanders have a chance to join the 2019 Brighton team as the county’s only state finalist.

Of course, Brighton would love nothing more than to ruin Howell’s plans.

In order for there to be a rematch between Brighton and Howell, both teams must win their first round games on Friday evening. Pinckney is also in the state playoffs, a remarkable feat considering the Pirates started 0-4.
