Pittsfield boys placed third at state tournament / iBerkshires.com

The Pittsfield boys soccer team secured third place in the Division 4 state tournament, according to seedings released Friday afternoon.

Eight Berkshire County boys teams and six girls teams were included in the brackets posted on the MIAA website.

The Generals are one of eight teams that received a bye in the first round of the 40-team D4 tournament.

Pittsfield awaits the winner of a preliminary round game between No. 35 O’Bryant of Boston and No. 30 Bourne in the Round of 32.

Another one of those teams with a bye in the D4 tournament is Monument Mountainwhich is ranked fifth in the state and will host either No. 37 Wahconah or No. 28 Lynn Vo-Tech, which will meet for preliminaries in Lynn at a date to be announced.


Another all-Berkshire game is possible in the Division 5 boys’ round of 32 Mount Greylockwhich plays at Springfield Central for a Western Massachusetts title on Saturday, will be at home against a No. 44 seed in the state tournament next week Hoosac Valley or No. 21 Holbrook, which plays in the preliminary round.

No. 34 McCann Tech is also in the preliminary rounds. The Hornets head east to take on Douglas and face No. 2 Sutton in the Round of 32.

On the other side of the D5 mount LenoxThe boys from ‘s get a home game in the preliminary round. The Millionaires are hosted by Boston’s Commercial Academy of Science and Health. The winner will play top-seeded Boston International.

The Taconic Boys qualified for the Division 3 State Tournament. The Thunder is seeded No. 40 and will face No. 25 Danvers in the preliminary rounds. The winner of that game will go to No. 8 Weston in the round of 32.

The top seeded Berkshire County team in girls soccer is Mount Greylockthe No. 10 seed in the Division 5 state tournament. The Mounties girls, who will also play in the Western Mass final at Central on Saturday, then prepare to face the winner of a preliminary round game between No. 23 seeds Lenox and No. 42 Roxbury Prep.

The Drury girls and Hoosac Valley Girls are also at home in the preliminary round in D5. The Blue Devils are ranked No. 27 and will host Boston Collegiate Charter to see who will face No. 6 Saint John Paul II of Hyannis. The No. 31 Hurricanes play No. 34 Springfield International Charter School; The winner of this round will play No.2 Hull.

The fifth Berkshire County team in the Division 5 girls tournament is McCann Tech. It is seeded 33rd and will go to 32nd-seeded Parker Charter of Devens in the preliminary rounds. Either McCann Tech or Parker Charter will play top-seeded Douglas for a spot in the Sweet 16.

The Monument Mountain The girls secured the No. 20 seed in Division 4. The Spartans will face No. 13 Rockland in the Round of 32.
