“Langford joins Kathy Delaney-Smith’s mid-major preseason watch list”

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane women’s basketball head coach Ashley Langford was named to the 2025 Kathy Delaney-Smith Mid-Major Coach of the Year Preseason Watch List, presented by Your hoop stats.

This award follows a distinguished tenure at Stony Brook University, where Langford led the Seawolves to a 69-24 record in three seasons, the highest winning percentage (.741) in program history.

Langford begins her first season as head coach ahead of the Wave’s 2024-25 season and returns to Uptown with a reputation for building winning programs. Last season, she was named Coastal Athletic Association Coach of the Year and led Stony Brook to a 28-5 record, a regular-season title and a second-round appearance in the Women’s Basketball Invitation Tournament (WBIT). Under her leadership, the Seawolves earned recognition in the WBCA Academic Top 25.

Tulane enters the season with two returning starters, including one standout Kyren Whittingtonthe team’s leading scorer who was recently named to the AAC Preseason All-Conference Second Team.

The 2024-25 season begins Saturday November 7th at home in Uptown while Tulane competes Nicholls at 6:30 p.m.
