Aaron Rodgers: Garrett Wilson made ‘game-changing play’ on 1-handed TD in Jets win | News, results, highlights, statistics and rumors

The New York Jets appeared to be on their way to another loss after falling behind the Houston Texans early in the fourth quarter after a sluggish first half on Thursday.

Desperately needing a touchdown on third-and-long, Aaron Rodgers threw a ball toward Garrett Wilson in the end zone that seemed uncatchable even for a player of Wilson’s caliber. Somehow the receiver managed to recover the ball with a spectacular one-handed grab that gave New York a 14-10 lead.

It was more than just another highlight for Wilson. According to Rodgers, it was a game-changing — perhaps even season-changing — game for the Jets.

“Basically, I didn’t do much,” Rodgers said. “I just threw one there and he made an unbelievable catch…That was a huge play. The first one was a huge play too… But that was a game-changing play.”

Wilson was responsible for the Jets’ first two touchdowns of the game. His first score came in the third quarter when he completed a 21-yard touchdown pass, which was also a one-handed catch.

Wilson finished the game with nine receptions for 90 yards and two touchdowns. His new teammate Davante Adams sealed the game with a touchdown late in the fourth and finished the game with seven receptions for 91 yards and a touchdown.

The Jets entered Thursday’s game with five straight losses, and their playoff hopes dwindled with each loss. They still have a mountain to climb to return to the playoffs, but momentum is now on their side, thanks in large part to Wilson’s incredible catching.
