The pregame hype for Sunday afternoon’s NFC North showdown between the 6-2 Green Bay Packers and 6-1 Detroit Lions at Lambeau Field is well-deserved.

But it’s being overshadowed this week by the status of quarterback Jordan Love.

Love injured his groin during the Packers’ 30-27 win over Jacksonville on Sunday. Although the injury is not serious, the Packers could rest him. They are 3-0 when Malik Willis comes on for Love, and they have a bye after the Lions game.

But Packers coach Matt LaFleur said Monday that Love will play Sunday if he is healthy enough.

“If he can go, he will go,” LaFleur said. “So we’ll see where he’s at at the end of the week and if we feel like he can’t protect himself then there’s no way we would put him in that position.”

Here’s an early preview of Sunday’s game:

Jordan Love injury update

After an MRI scan on Monday, Love’s condition is no worse than it was on Sunday, when his groin injury was not thought to be serious enough to rule him out this week.

Update on Jaire Alexander’s injury

Packers cornerback Jaire Alexander came up limping as he tried to cover Jaguars tight end Evan Engram on a 14-yard touchdown pass with 1 minute, 48 seconds left. Alexander was unable to put any weight on his right leg as Engram went upfield to pass, a non-contact injury.

Tests showed Alexander’s injury is not serious, but he is in severe pain, a league source said. That’s what Alexander has to do to be able to play this week, so his status is uncertain.
