Bowling for TRACK Kat Klash

The Sam Houston bowling team is excited to host the annual TRACK Kat Klash as the Bearkats will host 17 other schools, including 10 in the NTCA Top 25. This will be the 14thTh Continuation of this event, which will once again take place at the Emerald Bowl for the ninth consecutive year.

The tournament begins Friday and includes McKendree, Central Missouri, UMES, Maryville, Oklahoma Christian, Lewis, Alabama State, Adelphi, Newman, Arkansas State, Stephen F. Austin, Louisiana Tech, Tulane, Southern, Prairie View, Texas Southern and Jackson Condition.



The venue
Emerald Bowl has been the site of some significant events in NCAA history. The first-ever women’s bowling championships were held there in 2004, with Nebraska defeating Central Missouri. In 2006, the championships returned to the Emerald Bowl when Fairleigh Dickenson defeated Alabama A&M.



The story
This is the 14th year of the Kat Klash. The first two years were held at Huntsville Lanes. The third year was held at Palace Lanes in Houston before the event moved to Emerald Lanes in Houston, except for 2021 when it was held at Time to Spare in Cut and Shoot.

The Kats were the winners of the first two events. Arkansas State won the team title in 2013, while Nebraska won back-to-back titles in 2014 and 2015. Sam Houston won in 2016 and Nebraska in 2017. McKendree won his first Kat Klash title in 2018, Nebraska won its fifth and sixth Kat Klash titles in 2020 and 2021, North Carolina A&T won the title in 2022 and Maryville sat down narrowly beat Sam Houston in the championship last season.
