Game notes

  • Guys, I don’t want to overstate it, but the mood around the Bruins isn’t exactly great right now! Last time I checked, Tuesday night’s recap had almost 300 comments, so…yeah. We’re not doing well, are we?
  • Carolina pulled off a perfect Western swing, going 4-0-0 against Edmonton, Calgary, Seattle and Vancouver. They defeated the Canucks 4-3 in overtime in their last game on Monday night.
  • Pyotr Kochetkov started the Hurricanes’ last game after Frederik Andersen was injured in Carolina’s win over Seattle. Andersen was scheduled to be evaluated when the Canes returned to North Carolina on Tuesday, but it appears he will not be available tonight.
  • As we all know, the Bruins offense is having major problems right now. They probably won’t get much help tonight as Carolina has the third stingiest team defense in the league (2.38 GA/G).
  • As the Bruins’ frustration mounted, Jim Montgomery put his lines in a blender on Wednesday, took them out and then put them back in a blender. First line: Johnny Beecher? Embrace the chaos. It remains to be seen whether these lines translate to actual gameplay, but… we might just be at that point.
  • Shayne Gostisbehere, who signed a three-year deal in the offseason, has been great for the Hurricanes so far in his second go-round with the team.
  • You know things are going well when I use “confused” in a headline and it’s not even November yet.

Happy Halloween! Enjoy plenty of sweets and get ready for the sugar rush for the game.
