Jimmy Kimmel roasts Trump’s ‘confusing’ garbage truck stunt

Jimmy Kimmel botched Donald Trump’s latest stunt: He dressed in an orange high-visibility vest and climbed into the cab of a garbage truck.

“Shouldn’t they have put him in the back? “The rubbish goes to the back – it’s confusing,” they say Jimmy Kimmel Live! the host joked on Wednesday night’s show.

Trump rolled up in a white garbage truck with the words “Trump Make America Great Again 2024” on its side in Green Bay, Wisconsin, on Wednesday to troll President Joe Biden and Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris.

“How do you like my garbage truck?” Trump asked reporters. “This truck is in honor of Kamala and Joe Biden.”

The former president’s stunt took aim at a gaffe from Biden on Tuesday in which the president appeared to call Trump’s MAGA supporters “trash.”

“The only trash I see floating around out there is his supporters. His demonization of Latinos is unconscionable and un-American,” Biden said while discussing comedian Tony Hinchcliffe’s racist joke about Puerto Rico at Trump’s rally.

Both the president and the White House later emphasized that his comments referred to the “hateful rhetoric” at Trump’s rally at Madison Square Garden and not to Trump supporters – who make up nearly half of the electorate.

Although Trump repeatedly referred to the United States as a “dustbin” in his campaign speeches and Hinchcliffe called Puerto Rico a “floating island of trash” at Trump’s big campaign rally just days earlier, the GOP candidate has stuck to Biden’s words.

“For the past week, Donald Trump has called America a garbage can multiple times a day. But now that Joe Biden has used that word … he drives a garbage truck,” Kimmel said with a wry grin on his face.

“He went out, rented a garbage truck and wrote his name on it. Shouldn’t they have stuck him in the back?” the comedian asked.

Kimmel also praised Trump’s choice of clothing – the GOP candidate kept the high-visibility vest on during his subsequent campaign rally at the Resch Center.

“He even wore a sanitation worker safety vest. “This is not a picture we created, this is a real photo of Donald Trump,” he said, showing a photo to the studio audience.

“It really brings out the orange in his face, I must say.”

Kimmel suggested that Trump’s histrionics were an attempt to divert attention from comedian Tony Hinchcliffe’s comments at his Madison Square Garden rally.

At the rally, Hinchcliffe called the U.S. territory of Puerto Rico a “floating island of garbage” – comments that have sparked backlash in the Puerto Rican community and raised questions about whether this will turn off Hispanic voters.

“Although he may be trying to play it off and distract us, this garbage thing is a serious problem for him. “He’s facing a firestorm of anger from the Latino population,” the late-night host said.

“But instead of apologizing — which he doesn’t — he sat down to talk about it with noted racial tolerance advocate Sean Hannity.”

In an interview with the Fox News host on Tuesday, Trump claimed that Puerto Ricans would hug and kiss him in droves when they see him on the street.

“Every time I go outside I see someone from Puerto Rico. They hug me and kiss me,” he said.

“Yeah, that definitely happens every time he goes outside…” Kimmel teased.

Trump has repeatedly tried to distance himself from Hinchcliffe’s comments, claiming he “doesn’t know him” while accusing Harris of “running a campaign of hate.”

Harris, meanwhile, has also sought to distance herself from Biden’s comments, telling reporters on Wednesday that she “strongly disagrees with any criticism of people based on who they vote for.”
