After a quiet performance against the Cavaliers, Karl-Anthony Towns responds with the best game as a Knick

The Knicks received numerous contributions from all sides of their new-look lineup during Wednesday night’s thrilling win over the Heat, but none were bigger than what they got Karl Anthony cities.

MSG’s Mike Breen said he heard Towns say before the game that he loved playing in Miami his entire career and that clearly showed in this game.

After taking just eight shots in Monday’s disappointing home loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers, the All-Star center bounced back and easily made his most impressive shot of the young season.

Towns helped the Knicks keep pace with the hotly-contested Heat early on when he brought in the Miami big man Bam Adebayo ran into foul trouble and hit five of his first eight shots for 12 points in the first quarter – and he just continued to dominate from there.

Even as the rest of New York’s offense found its way, it was the big man who stepped up and knocked down two big players down the stretch to help them secure the thrilling win and open the road trip.

Towns finished the game with a game-high 44 points on 17 of 25 shooting from the field and 4 of 5 from behind the arc while grabbing 12 rebounds over 39 minutes.

“Today is a big game for us, I just wanted to do everything I can to help us win,” he said after the game at MSG. “I was just aggressive out there and my teammates found me in great spots. “I want to thank them and the coaching staff for putting me in a position to make the most of my talent, and I wanted to thank both of them for their trust thank you.”

Towns had a bit of a tumultuous start through the first four games of his Knicks career, but Wednesday’s dominant performance was exactly what they envisioned when they agreed to a deal with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

After watching this team earn victories over the last two seasons, the New Jersey native is excited to now embrace that culture – with this rivalry win being the first example of this season.

“I watched from afar, this team is tough,” he said. “They find a way to win and never give up. So we bring the New York mentality every night, it’s something you see when you play and it becomes a part of that culture.”
