Who are Dodgers free agents after the 2024 season?

MLB free agency is scheduled to begin the morning after the conclusion of the 2024 World Series, with seven Los Angeles Dodgers players set to hit the open market.

The group includes Walker Buehler, Jack Flaherty, Kiké Hernández, Teoscar Hernández, Daniel Hudson, Joe Kelly and Blake Treinen.

The free agent list could grow later in the offseason depending on the team’s option and tender decisions. Austin Barnes (Club), Clayton Kershaw (Player) and Miguel Rojas (Club) all have contract options that must be accepted or declined for the 2025 season.

Walker Buhler

Buehler returned to the major leagues for the first time in nearly two years after recovering from a second Tommy John surgery and flexor tendon repair.

The right-hander struggled throughout the regular season but found a new lease of life in the playoffs, where he lived up to his reputation as a big-game pitcher.

At 30 years old, Buehler could be one of the most unique free agent cases this offseason. He has thrown just 140.1 innings over the last three seasons, but looked a lot like the quality starter he was in the Dodgers’ previous playoff appearances.

Jack Flaherty

The Dodgers acquired Flaherty at the MLB trade deadline in hopes that he would stabilize their injury-plagued rotation.

Flaherty did just that and continued to throw the ball far down the stretch. The 29-year-old is now on the verge of signing a lucrative contract as one of the top free agent starting players.

Kike Hernandez

Hernández endured one of the worst offensive seasons of his career, but things turned around significantly in the playoffs.

The 33-year-old emerged as one of the Dodgers’ best hitters and helped boost his free agency numbers. Given his ability to play all over the court, Hernández should be able to get a multi-year deal this offseason.

Teoscar Hernandez

The Dodgers responded to their need for a right-handed hitter by signing Hernández to a one-year contract last offseason, and the 32-year-old enjoyed one of his most productive seasons.

Hernández is one of the top free agent bats this offseason and should have a strong market. He has expressed a desire to remain with the Dodgers, but they will have plenty of competition for his services.

Daniel Hudson

Hudson returned to the major leagues this season after being limited to just three appearances in 2023 due to a right knee injury. He had a breakout year and could re-sign with the Dodgers if he decides to return for his age-38 season.

Joe Kelly

Kelly endured an injury-plagued 2024 season in which he posted some of the worst marks of his career. The 36-year-old will likely have to settle for a one-year deal in free agency to restore his value.

Blake Treinen

Treinen’s 2024 debut was delayed due to a lung injury, but he ended up enjoying one of his best seasons ever after missing all of 2023 while recovering from shoulder surgery.

The Dodgers will likely try to keep the 36-year-old, but other teams in need of bullpen help should have strong interest in him.
