Linda Holliday seemed to address the theory that she was throwing shade at her ex Bill Belichick for her Kill Bill–inspired Halloween costume.

“Can everyone please stop being offended by absolutely EVERYTHING?” Holliday, 61, wrote via her Instagram Story on Wednesday, October 30, “Ya’ll (sic) would never have survived in the world Eddie Murphy, Andrew Dice ClayEtc., etc. days… Shit, you wouldn’t survive late night talk shows like that Jay Leno or David Letterman.”

She continued: “For God’s sake, laugh a little. Relax. Not everything is an attack…”

In another post, Holliday shared an inspirational quote that read, “A sense of humor helps us get through the boring times, deal with the difficult times, enjoy the good times, and get through the scary times.”

Although Holliday didn’t fully explain the inspiration for her post, she was apparently referencing the chatter about her current costume. At the weekend, the TV correspondent was spotted dressed like this Uma Thurmanis the iconic character of Kill Bill.

Holliday’s costume went viral after it was discussed on the Tuesday, October 29, episode of the DraftKings podcast “GoJo and Golic.” Cohost Jessie Coffield explained that Holliday spent the weekend with her friends and shared a photo of the group Mike Golic Sr. pointed out that the costume seemed like a dig at Belichick.

“It’s not subtle,” said Golic Sr. “It’s not a subtle costume at all, is it? Pretty detailed.”

Mike Golic Jr. chimed in, joking that Holliday’s look was as “subtle as a sledgehammer.” Golic Jr. also added that while he wasn’t sure which of Holliday’s friends posted the group photo, he felt like the women were “thrilled” with Holliday’s costume, especially given Belichick’s current love life.

“I can’t imagine what these women’s group chats have been like for the past few months, culminating in this costume,” the internet personality said.

Belichick, 72, and Holliday were together for most of his tenure with the New England Patriots. They first connected in 2007, a year after Belichick’s divorce from his ex-wife Debby Clarke. Several media outlets reported in September 2023 that Belichick and Holliday had broken up after 16 years of dating. The two did not comment on their separation at the time.

The same year the former NFL coach and Holliday split, Belichick was linked to his now-girlfriend. Jordan Hudson. The couple, who have a 48-year age difference, made their relationship official in September when Hudson, 24, gave her boyfriend a warm welcome on social media.
