The saga of Oasis’ reunion ticket fiasco continues – on Tuesday, October 29, it was announced that thousands of tickets purchased through third-party resale sites for the band’s UK tour dates in 2025 will be cancelled .

The news was confirmed by the reunion shows’ organizers, Live Nation and SJM Concerts, who told the BBC that tickets from unauthorized secondary platforms will be canceled “soon” and they will then be available again via Ticketmaster (the official seller). . at face value.

This move came after Oasis and event organizers repeatedly warned – as a company spokesperson put it – “not to purchase tickets from unauthorized websites, as some of them may be fraudulent and others may be cancelled.” Since the first sale, Ticketmaster and resale partner Twickets are the only verified sellers.

Despite this warning, thousands of tickets were offered on resale sites just hours after the first presale opened. According to the company spokesman, “four percent of the tickets ended up on resale sites,” which corresponds to around 50,000 tickets.

As Live Nation and SJM put it, tough countermeasures like this “have been taken to crack down on secondary ticket distribution companies that resell tickets at a huge profit.”

Still, Viagogo has indicated it will continue to sell Oasis tickets as long as it is legal. “Two percent of Oasis tickets are available on Viagogo and Stubhub,” said representative Matt Drew. “We will continue to sell them as the regulator requires. We are serving a clear consumer need and will continue to do so.”

Currently, the resale of tickets is generally legal as long as it is done legally and not as an act of scalping. However, laws vary by region. At this stage it is not clear whether the cancellations affect all upcoming Oasis shows or just those in the UK.
