Weather warning days for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday

A busy week of weather is ahead across the Green Country as Weather Warning Days are now in effect for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

Monday – Strong winds and high fire danger

A Weather Warning Day is in effect for Monday as strong winds create a high fire risk across the Green Country.

Wind gusts in excess of 40 mph are expected for the remainder of the afternoon and evening. A wind warning is in effect for several districts until 8 p.m. this evening.

Combined with low humidity and very dormant vegetation, this creates a high fire danger across much of Oklahoma.

A red flag warning is in effect for several counties until 8 p.m.

Please follow local burn bans and avoid all burn-related activities.

Tuesday – Strong winds

Strong winds return Tuesday, with gusts of up to 40 mph expected again.

A wind warning is in effect again until Tuesday, 8 p.m.

The fire danger will continue to be elevated throughout the day on Tuesday, but higher humidity levels will cause the danger to decrease somewhat.

Wednesday – Severe storms

On Wednesday, Green Country will experience severe weather for the first time in several months.

A slow-moving front will produce numerous showers and storms across Oklahoma, some of which could be strong to severe, with the primary threat being large hail and damaging winds, although an isolated threat of tornadoes cannot be ruled out.

Most activities take place in the late afternoon to evening.
