Grammy Award-winning singer and New York native Ashanti sang the national anthem before Game 4 of the World Series on Tuesday night, a day after Fat Joe heralded the series’ move to New York with a pregame performance.

Ashanti drew multiple cheers during the performance as she sang the national anthem and fans cheered at several points during the performance.

The 44-year-old singer has eight Grammy nominations and two Billboard number one hits throughout her career – “Foolish” and a collaboration with Ja Rule on “Always On Time”.

The night before, the Yankees brought out Bronx native Fat Joe for a pregame appearance that received a lukewarm reception at best from baseball fans.

He sang a tune of his hits, including “Lean Back” and “All the Way Up,” as well as Ja Rule’s hit “New York.”

The performance sparked plenty of jokes on social media, including one user who wrote: “Ice Cube beat Fat Joe Dodgers to take a 3-0 lead.”

“Dear New York, Fat Joe is not Ice Cube. Sincerely, the rest of us,” another person wrote.

Former Red Sox star and current Fox broadcaster David Ortiz even had a chance at the gig.

“Even when Fat Joe came out, the fans’ body language was damning,” he said. “I asked myself, ‘What’s going on here? Are we at a funeral yet?’”

Leslie Odom Jr. then played the national anthem before Game 3.

Ice Cube performed his own on-field concert before Game 1 at Dodger Stadium and received universal praise.

Even Yankees outfielder Alex Verdugo was stuck in the Yankees dugout.

The Yankees are in jeopardy heading into Game 4, trailing 3-0 to the Dodgers, who held the Yankees without a run until the ninth inning on Monday night.

Freddie Freeman’s two-run home run put the Yankees behind eight balls early in the first inning, 2-0.
