EAGAN, Minn. – The Minnesota Vikings acquired left tackle Cam Robinson from the Jacksonville Jaguars on Tuesday, sources told ESPN, adding a possible replacement for injured incumbent Christian Darrisaw.

In addition to Robinson, the Vikings receive a conditional 2026 seventh-round pick that can become a fourth-rounder depending on playing time, while the Jaguars receive a conditional 2026 fifth-round pick that can become a fourth-rounder, according to sources.

Robinson, 29, is in the final year of a contract that will pay him $16.25 million this season. According to sources, the Jaguars will pay a portion of Robinson’s remaining salary.

Darrisaw suffered a torn ACL and ACL in his left knee during the Vikings’ 30-20 loss to the Los Angeles Rams last Thursday. He signed a four-year contract extension in August and is expected to be fully healthy next season.

That likely makes Robinson a short-term addition for the remainder of a season in which the Vikings are off to a surprising 5-2 start.

Veteran backup David Quessenberry replaced Darrisaw against the Rams, but Vikings coach Kevin O’Connell subsequently said the team would consider multiple options for the position over the final 10 games.

Another option was believed to be to move left back Blake Brandel to left tackle, with veteran Dalton Risner filling in at left back. Brandel last played left tackle in 2022 and when asked about the possibility on Monday, he said, “We’re still figuring it all out.”

Speaking to reporters Tuesday afternoon, offensive coordinator Wes Phillips said the Vikings would be guided by getting their top five offensive players on the field.

Robinson started the Jaguars’ first seven games, but was substituted for fourth-year Walker Little on Sunday against Green Bay. This was the first time in his career that he was active and did not play for a game.

Jaguars coach Doug Pederson said Monday that it was still unclear whether Little would be a starter.

Robinson, who has a career pass-block win rate of 81.7%, played in nine games in 2023, missing the first four while suspended for violating the league’s performance-enhancing drug policy. He missed four more games as a substitute due to a knee injury.

This was the third straight season Robinson missed games due to injury. He has played just one full season (2020) since the Jaguars drafted him 34th overall in 2017 and has missed 32 games in his career due to injury, suspension or being benched.

It wasn’t immediately clear whether Robinson would be ready in time for the Vikings’ next game Sunday night against the Indianapolis Colts.

The 25-year-old Darrisaw has been the Vikings’ starting left tackle since they made him with the No. 23 pick in the 2021 draft. He has battled a number of injuries but performed well to earn the new contract, worth up to $113 million.

The injury occurred when Darrisaw blocked with 35 seconds left in the first half on Thursday. Rams safety Jaylen McCollough fell on the side of his left knee and team medics helped him go straight to the locker room as the Vikings ended the half.
