Matthew Kessel comes in as Joel Hofer returns to the net against the Senators

OTTAWA, Ontario – Defenseman Matthew Kessel will rejoin the Blues’ defensive lineup on Tuesday night in Ottawa.

Kessel replaces Scott Perunovich on the third pair after missing two games as a substitute. Kessel will play alongside Pierre-Olivier Joseph, who will be in the lineup for the sixth consecutive season.

Goaltender Joel Hofer will start for the first time since Oct. 19 against Carolina, as Jordan Binnington has started in goal in each of the last three games.

Defenseman Nick Leddy (lower body) and forward Mathieu Joseph (lower body) are both out for the Blues.

After two games in the Blues lineup, Scott Perunovich expected to be cut in Ottawa

During Monday’s training in Montreal, Matthew Kessel replaced Perunovich in the third pair alongside Pierre-Olivier Joseph.


The Blues are sending Mathieu Joseph back to St. Louis for further evaluation of his lower body injury

Drew Bannister said Mathieu Joseph will miss the rest of the road trip, which passes through Ottawa on Tuesday and Philadelphia on Thursday night.
