Andrea Mitchell is exiting her MSNBC show “Andrea Mitchell Reports,” but will remain a driving force across all NBC News platforms.

The 77-year-old NBC leading lady will be leaving the anchor desk after hosting the show since 2008.

“I was able to take you all with me as I covered presidential summits and flew with U.S. secretaries of state to Russia, Ukraine, North Korea, Japan and China, Israel, the West Bank, Jordan, Chad, Cuba, Iraq , Iran, Pakistan and Afghanistan, to name just a few stops around the world,” Mitchell told viewers Tuesday after 16 years on “Reports.”

She continued: “Come next year, you will still see me in your living rooms, on your mobile devices and on other platforms, and perhaps in your hometowns and cities, where I will still be asking questions to get the answers you deserve .”

Mitchell, who will continue to serve as NBC News’ chief foreign affairs correspondent and chief Washington correspondent, will continue to appear on election night and breaking news events, appearing on “Meet The Press,” MSNBC, “Today” and “NBC Nightly News.” .” “Reports” is MSNBC’s longest-running daily program.

“As we prepare to cover a new administration, Andrea’s expertise and reporting are needed more than ever,” said a staff memorandum from NBC News chiefs Rashida Jones, Rebecca Blumenstein, Janelle Rodriguez and Libby Leist. “Please join us in congratulating Andrea on 16 years as an anchor at MSNBC and on her continued work with NBC News as we prepare to cover this historic election.”

Mitchell has covered every presidential campaign for NBC News since 1980, as well as seven presidential elections and 12 presidential elections since 1972. Last year she celebrated her 45th anniversary at NBC News.
