The Giants benched CB Deonte Banks in the second half of Monday’s game against the Steelers

Giants cornerback Deonte Banks had an extremely poor start to his second season and it finally broke during Monday night’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Banks has been a failure and head coach machine in recent weeks Brian Daboll It’s said he got pretty into it after being stymied by a running back Najee Harris during a carry early in the second quarter.

The former first-round pick was quickly replaced by Greg Stromanwho was called off the practice squad for the rest of the night before this competition.

“I talked to him on the sidelines about playing with the other guys,” Daboll said after the game. “I just thought we needed a little bit more. There are a few little things we need to improve in detail and I know he will do that.”

He added: “He will bounce back.”

Before Monday’s contest, Banks had already been criticized by his teammates and coaching staff for a lack of performance twice this season, with the most recent example coming on one Jalen hurts touchdown run during last week’s loss to division rival Philadelphia Eagles.

Despite the bench, Daboll remains confident that the youngster can turn things around in the future, and he even left the door open for a possible return to the field at next week’s meeting with the Washington Commanders.
