Freddie Freeman stuns Yankee Stadium – and sets the World Series record with one hit

Freddie Freeman’s torture against the Yankees is now setting records.

Freeman’s two-run homer in the first inning gave the Dodgers a 2-0 lead in Game 3 of the World Series and marked the fifth straight Fall Classic game in which the first baseman hit a home run.

The 35-year-old Freeman equaled the Astros’ George Springer’s mark and is the clear front-runner for World Series MVP with more than two games.

The first two came in 2021, when he helped the Braves defeat the Astros in six games.

Yankees starter Clarke Schmidt opened the game by walking Shohei Ohtani, and after Mookie Betts flied out to left, Freeman threw himself over the right field fence to silence the raucous Yankee Stadium crowd.

Freeman hit the walkoff grand slam off Nestor Cortes in Game 1 and then hit a solo shot off Carlos Rodon in Game 2 to extend the Dodgers’ lead to 4-1.

Freeman, who is dealing with a sprained ankle, had not hit a home run since Sept. 16 before his firing against the Yankees.

“It actually felt pretty good,” Freeman said after his Game 1 heroics.

“The last six days we treated it really well. I felt pretty good. When I ran out to high-five my teammates, I felt pretty good because it was the first time I had run this week. So, the ankle is fine.”
