Michigan quarterback Jack Tuttle retires from football due to concussion: ‘I need to start prioritizing my health’

Michigan quarterback Jack Tuttle is retiring from college football following his fifth concussion and other injuries, the sixth-grader announced Monday on social media.

“The past year has been challenging, marked by a UCL repair to my throwing arm from which I did not fully recover, resulting in ongoing issues,” Tuttle said. “And unfortunately, the recent experience of my fifth concussion has revealed the painful truth: that I need to start prioritizing my health.

“During my college career, I struggled with numerous injuries, culminating in this difficult decision to leave the sport I love.”

Tuttle missed Michigan’s win over Michigan State on Saturday. He accompanied the quarterbacks in pregame warmups but did not dress for the game. Tuttle is among a number of quarterbacks the Wolverines have used this season, including Alex Orji and Davis Warren.

Tuttle was in his second season at Michigan and rushed for 306 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions in two games this season.
