    The Los Angeles Dodgers have taken care of business at home in the first two games of the 2024 World Series, and now the New York Yankees will look to stay in the series and avoid a 3-0 hole in Game 3. The middle three games of the series – if the Yankees extend the series to five or more – will take place at Yankee Stadium, where New York had the worst home record (44-37) of all six Major League Baseball division winners this season.

    Shohei Ohtani, who suffered a shoulder injury while stealing second base in the seventh inning of Game 2, is in the lineup for Game 3. Yankees slugger Giancarlo Stanton is the 2024 postseason leader in home runs with six in 11 games. For It’s been a Freddie Freeman show for the Dodgers so far in the World Series, as he went 3-for-9 with two home runs – including the epic, game-winning grand slam in Game 1 – and five RBI.

    • MVP Freddie?

      If there was any doubt that the Dodgers’ power would endure during off days and cross-country travel, Freddie Freeman quickly dispelled it with a 2-run HR in the top of the 1st to give LA the early victory to bring about.

      Freeman has now hit a home run in each of the first three World Series games (and five straight World Series games since Games 5 and 6 of the 2021 World Series) and is the clear favorite for World Series MVP should the Dodgers continue to claim the title.

    • Walker Buehler is on the field for the Dodgers and has a 2-0 lead.

    • Clarke Schmidt struck out Max Muncy in three pitches to end the inning, but the damage was already done. The Dodgers strike first and take a 2-0 lead in the first period.

      If the Dodgers win, Freddie Freeman should have a shot at the MVP. He hit just his third home run in three World Series games, scoring first off Shohei Ohtani and giving the Dodgers an early 2-0 lead.

      He fired a 1-0 cutter into the right field stands to suck the air out of Yankee Stadium.

      We’ll have to wait and see what Shohei Ohtani’s swing looks like with his injured shoulder. He runs on four pitches to lead the game.

    • Clarke Schmidt is on the mound and Shohei Ohtani is swinging in circles on the deck. It’s almost time for Game 3.

      The Yankees’ hopes of turning the series around at home rest largely on his bat.

      It’s a big sigh of relief for the Dodgers with their lineup card for Game 3. Shohei Ohtani won’t miss a game after dislocating his left shoulder during a steal attempt in Game 2. He will take his usual spot at the top of the Dodgers line.

    • Yankees change at catcher

      Here is the Yankees’ lineup for Game 3, with the most notable move being catcher. Jose Trevino will start behind the plate, filling the seventh spot in the lineup in place of regular starter Austin Wells. Wells went a combined 1-for-8 in Games 1 and 2 and is batting .098 in the postseason.
