Nearly 30% of Harris County’s 2.7 million voters fulfilled their civic duty, either in person or by mail, during the first full week of early voting.

It’s also a record for the number of mail-in ballots: Just over 7,000 more mail-in ballots were received in the first week than in 2020. That’s about 27% of the county’s registered voters.

Fort Bend County voters also broke the first week’s record with a total of 179,052 early and mail-in ballots cast within the first seven days. In 2020, 141,481 people had voted by mail or in person by the end of the seventh day. To date, 173,837 people have voted in person and 5,215 mail-in ballots have been received. This represents about 32% of the county’s registered voters.

Galveston County

Statewide, 5.4 million Texans voted last week. 5.1 million voted in person at an early polling station and over 270,000 mail-in ballots have already been delivered. That represents about 30% of the 18.6 million registered voters in Texas.

Early voting ends November 1st and the last day to request an absentee ballot was October 25th. Election day is November 5th and mail-in ballots must be postmarked by November 5th at the latest.

All 2024 early voting numbers are unofficial numbers sent to the Secretary of State by county election officials. Official figures will only be announced after the election.
