Vice President Kamala Harris is back in the battleground state of Pennsylvania on Sunday, where she addressed a church congregation in Philadelphia and was subsequently criticized by commentators on social media for allegedly revealing a “new accent” during the event.

“BREAKING: Kamala Harris unveils new accent at a black church in Philadelphia,” the popular conservative X account “End Wokeness” posted on Sunday, accompanied by a video of Harris at the event.

Harris traveled to the Church of Christian Compassion in Philadelphia on Sunday morning, where she spoke to the predominantly Black congregants and told them that in just nine days, voters will have “the power to decide the fate of our nation for generations to come.”

“Right now, here in Pennsylvania, each of us has the opportunity to make a difference. Because at this moment we are faced with a real question: What kind of country do we want to live in?” she said. “The great thing about living in a democracy is that we as people have the choice to answer that question. So let us respond not only with our words, but also with our works.”

Harris quoted the book of Psalms in her remarks, saying, in part: “Weeping may last for a night, but joy comes in the morning. The journey may seem hard, the work may seem difficult, but joy comes in the morning and in church.” Morning is on the way.

Critics on social media pounced on clips of Harris quoting psalms, saying she used a new “pastor” accent for the first time and likening her tone to the tenor of Martin Luther King.

KAMALA HARRIS IS SPREADING AROUND THE COUNTRY REPEATING THE SAME SPEECH IN DIFFERENT ACCENTS

Harris has previously been accused by critics of revealing new “accents” on the campaign trail, including one last month when she spoke to the Congressional Black Caucus and another “accent” performed during a Labor Day rally with “Foghorn Leghorn.” was compared in Detroit when she spoke to union workers.

“Since when does the vice president have a Southern accent?” Fox News’ Peter Doocy asked White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre last month after her speech in Detroit that was compared to the cartoon character “Foghorn Leghorn.”

“I have no idea what you’re talking about,” replied Jean-Pierre.

“Well, she talked about unions in the same tone in Detroit, she used the same phrase in Pittsburgh, and she sounded like she had at least some sort of Southern accent,” Doocy urged.

KAMALA HARRIS called out over ‘weird’ accent: ‘It doesn’t make any sense’

“I mean, hear the question you’re asking – I mean, do you think the Americans seriously think this is an important question?” Jean-Pierre demurred. “Do you know what they care about? They care about the economy, they care about cutting costs, they care about health care. That’s what they want to hear… democracy and freedom… I’m not even going to ask a question about it… that’s it. It just sounds so ridiculous. The question – I’m talking about the question – is just crazy.

Fox News Digital contacted the Harris campaign about the Philadelphia speech and criticized critics who criticized the vice president for revealing the “new accent,” but did not immediately receive a response Sunday afternoon.

Pennsylvania is once again a key battleground state this election cycle, after Trump won the state in his successful presidential run in 2016 and President Biden claimed the state in 2020. Both Trump and Harris have traveled the state repeatedly in recent months as they work on the lockdown. There are more votes in the state that will likely decide the overall outcome of the election.

Harris will hold a campaign rally in Philadelphia later on Sunday, while Trump will attend a rally at New York’s Madison Square Garden on Sunday evening.
