The Big Ten says the ball was misspotted during Saturday’s Nebraska-Ohio State game

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – As with most games, fans weren’t exactly happy with some of the refereeing at Saturday’s Nebraska-Ohio State game.

Several times during the game it appeared that the ball was mislocated, most notably late in the first half when Nebraska’s Emmett Johnson appeared to have scored a first down, but the ball was placed a full yard ahead of the line that it was is to be won.

On Monday, the Big Ten’s chief operating officer released a statement to the media.

Nebraska lost valuable out-of-season time during this series of games, but still managed to score a field goal as time expired in the first half.

In his postgame press conference, Rhule had expressed confusion over this series of plays and assumed that Nebraska had actually scored a first down on that play.
