Colts’ Anthony Richardson admits leaving Texans game because he was ‘tired’;

Anthony Richardson didn’t want to lie, but maybe he should have.

The increasingly polarizing quarterback in Indianapolis temporarily took himself out of the Colts’ game during a 23-20 loss to the Houston Texans at NRG Stadium on Sunday.

That caused some excitement as Richardson has already battled injuries throughout his two NFL seasons since being selected No. 5 overall in last year’s draft, but he made an admission after the game.

He was just tired.

“Tired, not going to lie,” Richardson said of his one-play exit in the third quarter. “That was a lot of running I did and I didn’t think I would make it the next game. So I just told (head coach Shane Steichen) I needed a break right there.”

It appeared Richardson wasn’t tired after completing just 2 of 15 of his pass attempts in the first half.

Before he left, Richardson fell awkwardly in the third quarter, was sacked by Texas linebacker Jake Hansen and temporarily left the field.

Joe Flacco came into the game for a brief appearance.

Richardson finished the afternoon with 10 completions on 32 pass attempts, one touchdown, one interception and 175 yards.

Richardson, known for his running ability, also rushed for 45 yards on six carries on the ground.

The loss dropped the Colts to 4-4 on the season.

Next week they face the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday Night Football.
