Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb responds to Troy Aikman’s criticism

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb was interviewed by former Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett for NBC’s “Football Night in America” in which he responded to criticism from franchise legend Troy Aikman.

Aikman had criticized the Cowboys’ pass-catchers’ routes and usage and specifically criticized Lamb for “lazy” routes during his appearance on 96.7 FM the Ticket.

“I think they run terrible routes, and I thought that way beyond this year. I think CeeDee (Lamb) needs to improve his route running, and as a quarterback, it’s going to be difficult to play that position when you’re not sure where the guys are going to be consistently. That’s what I see, guys coming off the line of scrimmage lazy,” Aikman said.

Lamb said he has listened to Aikman’s criticisms and will use them as fuel as the season progresses.

“As a manager, I of course take this on board, I use it as a building block. For example, if you say that our routes are lazy, I personally see that as constructive criticism. As for me, I go to work, I’m a hard worker, so anything you say I don’t do, I’ll show you that I do,” Lamb said.

The All-Pro pass catcher also answered questions about his and Dak Prescott’s side conversations that have garnered attention throughout the season.

“The frustration obviously comes from the competitive level of work we did throughout the week,” Lamb said. “If (Prescott) is frustrated, he’ll tell me and vice versa. “It’s not like we’re saying it’s not a negative thing. It’s constructive criticism, it’s not about me hitting him or beating him up, it’s more about: Let me help you and you help me.”

The connection between Lamb and Prescott hasn’t been as close this season as it has been in years past, but the Oklahoma product has still been successful and has the 10th-most receiving yards in the NFL through Week 8.
