The U.S. women’s national team came from behind for the first time in 12 games under coach Emma Hayes, but that problem was solved when Lynn Williams and Lindsey Horan scored four late in the second half as part of a 3-1 win over Iceland Scored a goal minutes after each other on Sunday in Nashville, Tennessee.

Williams evened the score at 1-1 in the 72nd minute before setting up Horan’s winner in the 76th minute, giving Hayes an 11-0-1 record since June 1.

Emma Sears, who made her U.S. debut in the 55th minute, scored the final goal in the third minute of second-half stoppage time. She also had an assist on Williams’ goal.

The result was similar to Thursday’s game against Iceland in Austin, Texas, as Jaedyn Shaw scored in the 85th minute to tie the game at 1-1 and Sophia Smith scored a game-winning goal in the 88th minute.

Hayes made seven changes to the lineup from Thursday’s game, which was the first for the U.S. since beating Brazil 1-0 for the gold medal at the Paris Olympics on Aug. 10.

The goal for Iceland in Thursday’s game was the first in four games against the Americans, but it was no aberration. On Sunday, Karolina Vilhjalmsdottir scored 1-0 on her first shot attempt against Casey Murphy in the 31st minute.

Vilhjalmsdottir hit the right corner from a low angle from the left side.

This came after the USA dominated the early stages with several close chances and a shot on goal from Mallory Swanson in the 11th minute.

Swanson, who played her 100th game and scored the winning goal against Brazil, was honored before the game and a farewell ceremony for former defender Kelley O’Hara was held at halftime.

Murphy secured the lead in the 87th minute with her second save of the game, parrying a shot by Dilja Zomers from outside the penalty area that was aimed into the top left corner.

The Americans play Argentina on Wednesday in Louisville, Kentucky, before finishing the year against England in London on November 30 and the Netherlands in The Hague on December 3.
