The NSFW ad sparks a debate portraying the Republican Party as extreme when it comes to porn censorship

Democratic groups have sparked controversy over a 30-second ad that accuses the Republican Party of trying to control people’s private lives.
In the 30 second ad from Progress Action Fund and Defend the Vote, titled “Republicans Rubbing You the Wrong Way,” shows a man watching an adult movie before an actor playing a Republican congressman takes his cell phone away.
“What the fuck, man! How did you get in here?” The man asks the lawmaker.
“I am your Republican congressman. Now that we are in charge, we are banning porn nationwide,” the congressman responded.

“I won the last election so it’s my decision. I will just watch and make sure you don’t land illegally,” he added.
“You can’t tell me what to do!” Get out of my bedroom, you bastard,” the man replied.
The ad is part of a campaign by two Democratic groups that have aired several ads attacking Republicans over reproductive access. The advertising campaign will stream on connected TVs, online and streaming services in all seven battleground states.
The ad’s content angered some social media users, and a YouTube comment questioned its effectiveness in influencing undecided voters. Some users criticized Democrats’ focus on pornography and abortion, while others pointed out that no Republicans are currently trying to ban pornography at the federal level.
In a related development, 17 Adult film stars have launched a $100,000 advertising campaign on porn sites, warning that the Heritage Foundation’s Project 2025 includes a porn ban and prison sentences for its producers. Although Trump has distanced himself from Project 2025, “Hands off my porn” organizers hope the ads will lure male voters to Kamala Harris.
Trump famously denied having a one-night stand with porn star Stormy Daniels. The alleged 2006 encounter ultimately led to his conviction on 34 counts related to a hush money payment he made to Daniels before the 2016 presidential election.
