There were five games in Week 9 that pitted AP Top 25 teams against one another, and in the biggest game, No. 14 Texas A&M battled to a 38-23 victory over No. 8 LSU, giving the Aggies a place in both the SEC Game and alone with a score of 5:0 are at the top of the conference standings. The Aggies rallied from a 10-point halftime deficit after using Marcel Reed at quarterback in the second half.

It was all chalk for most of Saturday. No. 12 Notre Dame capitalized on six turnovers by No. 24 Navy in a 51-14 blowout. No. 4 Ohio State and No. 13 Indiana quelled any fears by staying home in Big Ten battles. Then No. 1 Oregon, No. 3 Penn State and No. 5 Texas took care of business later.

Otherwise, Saturday appeared to be a showcase of personal achievements: Ohio State’s Jeremiah Smith became the first freshman in 19 years to score a touchdown in each of his first seven games, and Oregon’s Dillon Gabriel moved into second place in all-time touchdown passes over.

And in the nightcap, Colorado became bowl eligible with an impressive 34-23 win over Cincinnati. The Buffaloes are now 6-2.
