Ravindra Jadeja influences MS Dhoni type run-out on day 3 of 2nd Test of IND vs NZ

Team India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja performed a run-out as casually as anyone on the third day of the second Test against New Zealand in Pune. The Saurashta all-rounder tapped the ball onto the stumps to catch Will O’Rourke short at the non-striker’s end as it was similar to MS Dhoni’s style of throwing batsmen out of the field.

The incident occurred in the 70th over of the innings when Glenn Phillips pushed a ball over the off side trying to reach a boundary and headed for a double. Washington Sundar, who was positioned deep, was bowling in front of the stumps as the ball bounced off Jadeja’s hands before hitting the wickets. On replays, it was clear that O’Rourke was inches from his floor.

Below is the video of it:

Jadeja had also taken the first two wickets of the day, getting rid of Tom Blundell, Mitchell Santner and Ajaz Patel. Ravichandran Ashwin removed Tim Southee for his third wicket of the innings.

Team India loses Rohit Sharma chasing 359:

After picking New Zealand’s last five wickets within the first hour, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma came out with one wicket. It is noteworthy that Jaiswal hit maximum on the second ball of the innings. However, Rohit Sharma was forced to post another single-digit score as Mitchell Santner was back with the ball and added to his seven wickets in the first innings.

India suffered a chaotic batting collapse on the second day of the Test, losing 156. New Zealand reached a score of 198/5 at the end of the second day and had a lead of 301 runs, led by Tom Latham’s 86.
