Ashton Jeanty injury update: CBS Sports offers Boise State RB news

Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty had a historic season for the Broncos. Many different people across the country have referred to him as the Leading candidate for the Heisman Trophy in the 2024 campaign. His Broncos take on the UNLV Rebels on Friday night, one of the biggest games of the season for both teams.

The problem is that Jeanty was banged up for most of the game. After halftime, the CBS Sports broadcast updated the Heisman hopeful’s status. Sideline reporter Tiffany Blackmon provided an update on his injury.

“I spoke to Boise State coach Spencer Danielson. He was proud of the way his boys finished the half. He described them as a resilient team – similar to his running back Ashton Jeanty, who is dealing with a left arm injury. They said they would see how he felt at halftime, but that he was a warrior.”

Jeanty briefly went to the medical tent in the first half, after which trainers decided to wrap his left forearm and elbow. But he came back into the game. With 12:38 left in the game, Jeanty had 26 carries for 102 yards and a touchdown. He made a number of impressive runs inside the 10-yard line, including a run into the end zone to give the Broncos a 29-24 lead with 12:38 to play.

Boise State defeated UNLV 29-24 to keep its College Football Playoff hopes alive. Jeanty finished the game with 33 carries for 128 yards and a touchdown.

In Mel Kiper’s latest Big Board, Jeanty was listed as a top ten prospect 2025 NFL Draft, which puts him at No. 9 overall. Coming into Friday’s game with UNLV, Jeanty was averaging 9.9 yards per carry and had 17 rushing touchdowns.

In six games, he caught 126 carries for 1,248 yards and scored 17 touchdowns. He played wildly against Georgia Southern, recording 267 rushing yards and six touchdowns. He had another impressive performance against the Washington State Cougars when he caught 26 carries for 259 rushing yards and four touchdowns.

In 12 games during his senior season of high school, Jeanty totaled 1,843 rushing yards on 229 carries (8.0 yards per carry). He also managed 810 receiving yards on 41 catches and scored 41 total touchdowns (31 rushing, 10 receiving). Jeanty played at Lone Star High School (Frisco, Texas) from 2019 to 2021.
