Looking for more warmth with little cooling and little rain

TODAY: Wednesday will be a cooler day thanks to a cold front passing overnight. Expect highs around 70 with a northerly breeze around 5-10 mph.

TONIGHT: Thanks to passing high pressure, temperatures will drop to over 40°C and conditions will be clear and calm.

EXTENDED: On the other side of the high pressure, winds return from the south to keep us warm throughout the day on Thursday. The warmest air will peak to our west on Thursday afternoon, but we expect high temperatures to be in the mid-70s Thursday afternoon. This peak of warmth to our west will be just ahead of a cold front that is on its way, bringing with it the possibility of weak showers. Light rain is expected along and north of HWY 24, with a moderate chance along I-70 Thursday night into Friday morning. Only a trace of a few hundredths is expected, and most of that will come overnight, with just a few showers possible in the west before sunset and a few in the east after sunrise. Friday, like Thursday, will be mostly dry. Temperatures behind the overnight front will peak around 70 degrees Friday afternoon. Cooling will continue into the lower 40s Saturday morning, with the upper limit in the 60s Saturday afternoon. With sunshine expected on both days, Sunday will be a near replica of Saturday as pressure remains high in the region. After it passes, southerly flow from a narrow pressure gradient will create windy conditions across the region Monday through Tuesday. This southerly breeze will likely warm us to temperatures in the upper 70s or well above average by early next week.
