Seahawks and Titans pull off a blockbuster trade by swapping LBs and draft picks

The NFL trade deadline is fast approaching on November 5th, but the Seattle Seahawks and Tennessee Titans haven’t waited to make a big trade.

Baker joined the Seahawks in the 2024 offseason after spending the previous six seasons with the Miami Dolphins. Through 2024, Baker has 37 total tackles, one sack, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.

During his time with the Dolphins, Baker totaled 587 tackles, two interceptions, 22.5 sacks and six forced fumbles. Although he was never named to the Pro Bowl or named All-Pro, he was one of the most solid linebackers in the NFL.

The Titans acquired Jones in the trade, who totaled 44 tackles and two passes defensed. Jones moved to the Titans via a trade from the Los Angeles Rams before the start of the 2024 season.

The Rams sent Jones to the Titans for a fifth- and sixth-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. The Titans just acquired him for a fourth-round pick.

A player-to-player swap is rare when it comes to trades, but now both Baker and Jones can get going with their new respective defenses.

The Seahawks are currently 4-3 this season and most recently had a comfortable win against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday. They easily beat the Falcons 34:14 and hope to continue to make waves in the open NFC West.

The Seahawks are firmly in first place in the division, although the Arizona Cardinals and San Francisco 49ers are right behind them with 3-4 records.

The Titans, on the other hand, had problems. The team is currently 1-5 and in last place in the AFC South. Quarterback Will Levis has struggled and is now injured, casting doubt on the team’s ability to challenge the rest of the AFC and their own division.

Previously, the Titans sent DeAndre Hopkins to the Kansas City Chiefs for a conditional fourth-round pick and have now received a fourth-round pick for Jones.

With a 1-5 record and the Titans potentially entering the 2025 NFL Draft, they could make a few more trades as the NFL trade deadline quickly approaches. Either way, Tennessee has already made some big moves.
